From A Mother’s Heart To Her Son
Dear Johnny,
I am writing to you to share with you some things that I have been wanting to tell you for a long time, but Satan always seems to steal away the
moment. I reflect back on the years that we have had together and they have gone by so fast. I remember the day you were born, February 7th, 1959,
six pounds and eleven ounces. You were a hard delivery, but such a beautiful surprise. Your friendship has meant so much to me as you have grown
into a sweet, thoughtful man who has always shown love to me. You are easy to get along with and you are a hard worker. But as close as we are,
there is something missing. Your salvation and happiness mean more to me than money or fame. May you receive my heartfelt plea in this letter and
read God’s Word for your life. I know that if you follow the Saviour Jesus, you will have joy like you have never known. I have found this joy in
Christ and I plead that you will submit to God’s plan for you. GOD LOVES YOU. CHRIST DIED FOR YOU. YOU CAN BE RECONCILED.
Romans 5:8-12 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now
been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through
the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through
sin, and so death spread to all men, because all inned.” Johnny, no matter what you have done in the past, you can be saved from the wrath of God.
You can be reconciled to God through His son. Sin is a choice, but not death. When we choose to sin, we choose to die. We all have to die to sin in
order to live. And we know if we are not living, then we are dying. YOU CAN WALK IN A NEW LIFE. Many times when we talk on the phone, I just think to myself and pray as we are talking that you will
take hold of a new life in Christ. I know that you don’t have peace in your life. When I have problems, I just pray. I know that God hears me. I know that
He is going to take care of me. My God knows my sorrows even before I cry. Phil. 4:6-7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
My prayer is that you will one day pray to God and He will hear you. My prayer is that you will have the peace in Christ that passes all comprehension. There is no pill, no shrink, no therapy or amount of money that can give you peace. There is no money value on a good night’s sleep. When you repent of your sins, confess Jesus, believe in Him, are baptized for the forgiveness of your sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and you remain faithful until death . . . . YOU WILL HAVE PEACE. Please read Romans 6:1-10. Paul talks about how we are freed from sin when we are baptized. He talks about how we walk in a new life. That’s one of my favoritescriptures. Romans 6:4. When we get rid of the sin in our life . . . WE ARE NEW! We should not fear death as Christians, because we have been freed from sin. YOU CAN HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. Not only can you have peace in Christ here on earth, but you can have eternal life. I Tim. 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.”
Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” When you are in covenant with Jesus, eternal life is a gift. Our Heavenly Father keeps His promises. You have had many people in your life to break their promises to you, but Jesus won’t. He laid down His life for you. He loves you. Don’t you want to spend eternity in Heaven with Him? Don’t you want to be in covenant with Him? He won’t let you down. I Cor. 7:23 says, “You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.” You are special to me, but you are even more special to our Saviour. The price that He paid for you was very great. I am so proud to have you as my son. I love you deeply. But I want more. I want to have you as my Christian brother. I want to be in Heaven with you and all of my children. My heart grieves for you. The gospel is the “good news” and I pray that you will begin to read God’s Word and to be immersed for the right reason. If you are willing to be obedient, God will honor your repentance. God is not willing that any of us should perish, but that all would repent (I Peter 3:9). Please hear my plea.
I love you, son.
