“What God puts into our hands”

When God puts something into people’s hands, there are two types of people.
The first type of people are those who use what God gave them for his glory;
and the second type are those who don’t use it. We are going to look first at the
good examples of people who used what God gave them.

Exodus 4:1-9 – God put something in Moses’ hand.
Joshua 2:3-11
God is in the forgiving business.
Joshua 6:22-25
Matthew 1:5 – Genealogy of Christ – Rahab is mentioned.
1 Samuel 17 – God put a sling into David’s hand. David
faced the impossible, but he had faith. David got 5
smooth river stones – 2 for Goliath, and 3 for his brothers.
Mark 12:41-44 – God put two coins into the widow’s
hand, and she used them for his glory.
Acts 4:36 – The same Barnabas who went with Paul
on his first missionary trip.
Acts 9:36 – Tabitha was abounding in acts of love and charity – she did them continually.
God gave her a talent with the needle and thread, and she used it for him.

Now we are going to look at some examples of people who had talents, but they didn’t use them.
Genesis 2:15 – God put Adam in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and to watch over it.
God put dominion into Adam’s hand – responsibility. But Adam disobeyed God, and because of sin,
he was separated from God.
Leviticus 10:1 – God put something into Nadab and Abihu’s hands. But they twisted
and added to what God wanted, so God burned them.
1 Kings 11:1 – A great kingdom was put into Solomon’s hand – but because he fell away and worshipped

other gods and practiced paganism, God took it away from him.
Matthew 25:24-30 – Don’t let your talent be unused – if you don’t use your talent for God, you could be

thrown into outer darkness.
Luke 16:19 – God put riches and prosperity into the rich man’s hand. He could have helped the poor and the needy

like Lazarus, but he didn’t.

People don’t want to change until they get to Hell.

Acts 5 – Ananias and Sapphira saw that people who were giving and sacrificing what they had for the church, and they were getting fame.

Ananias and Sapphira wanted that fame. They sold their property for the wrong reason.

What has God given us?

James 4
God has put something in our hands – our life.
How are we going to use it? He also gave us a
body. How are we going to use it?
For perversion? Or for God’s glory?
Do we do everything for the glory of God?
God also gives us time. Our life is like a vapor,
and then eternity.
Ephesians 5:13-16

  1. We need to make most of the time
  2. We need to use it wisely

We know God’s will by studying His word.
Matthew 25:14 – God gives us talents
according to our own abilities (vs 15)
Matthew 16:26 – How valuable is your life?

Ephesians 6:4 - God also gives us children. The way you raise them will affect where they will spend eternity
